Geographical and Strategic Location of the Hotel Paradiso
Val di Non is a valley to live in, a valley to explore!
Upper Non Valley is a unique wide plateau, delimited by the Canyon of the Novella River and at the East side by Penegal and Macaion mountains.
One of its main characteristic is the vast grassland and woodland, suggestive landscapes on Adige valley, the cities of Bolzano and Merano, the magnificent mountain chain that surround the valley: Dolomiti di Brenta and Maddalene.
Hotel Paradiso is right here, in the Upper Non Valley, on the road SS42, outside the village of Sarnonico. It’s sun-kissed and surrounded by grassland and woodland. During your stay you can discover the surroundings walking, cycling or riding. All the itineraries here around are well-marked and in a brief time you can reach “Regole di Malosco”, the quaint village of Ruffrè with its marvellouses little lakes, the Penegal mountain and the Mendola Pass, one of the main pass that links Trentino and Alto Adige.
We are not far from the charming city of Bolzano, almost 30 Km going down the SS 42. This is a road characterised by hairpins and beautiful passages chiselled in rock, where you can experience breath taking views.
From Mendola Pass, there is the chance to go down to Caldaro, a lovely village famous for its namesake lake and the vineyards, with the famous rack railway “Funicolare della Mendola”.
From Hotel Paradiso going down at the opposite direction, you can bump into the village of Ronzone (4 Km), where are situated lot of sport and leisure facilities (community heated pool, tennis fields, several little museums and the famous botanic park “Giardino della Rosa”).
Going down through the village of Malosco, you can reach Fondo, the county town of Upper Non Valley. Here you can visit the Canyon Rio Sass, the fascinating Smeraldo lake, that in Winter become a wonderful natural ice skating rink. Nearby, nestled in the woodland there is also Tret lake (close to the namesake village). The day of Epiphany in Fondo takes place the famous and international race with snow rackets named “Ciaspolada”.
From Fondo, going down the Palade Pass, you can reach easily Merano, a typical south Tyrol town (45Km).
